Using Learned Assist in Slack
Ask Learned your question without leaving Slack.
Much of your workday happens in Slack. With Learned Assist in Slack, you ask your questions right in Slack, without switching tools. For example, you can prepare a conversation or get help giving feedback.
Before you start
- The app must be installed. Your organisation's Slack admin installs the Learned app once. You can read how this works in Communication integrations in Learned.
- Your email address must match. Learned recognises you by your email address. Use the same email address in Slack as in Learned.
Asking a question
- By direct message. Open the Learned app in Slack and type your question. This is useful for personal questions.
- By @mention. Mention @Learned in a channel or thread. This is useful when you want to work something out together with colleagues.
Learned Assist first reacts with an emoji, so you know your message has arrived. The answer appears in the same thread, which keeps your chat tidy.

Follow-up questions
Learned Assist remembers what was said earlier in the chat. You don't have to explain your question again and can simply ask follow-up questions. A new conversation starts automatically every day, so you start each day with a clean slate.
Try for example
- "What should I focus on in my next 1:1?"
- "Help me give feedback to a colleague."
- "Make this text shorter and clearer: ..."
Getting more out of Learned Assist
Your Admin can turn on extra features for Learned Assist in the Organisation settings, under Module settings:
- Proactive support. Learned Assist then asks you to capture insights after a 1:1, or on a fixed day each week. This happens through your connected channels, such as Slack.
- Connectors. Learned Assist then gets access to other apps and services, such as Google Drive.
Privacy
Learned Assist works with your Learned account. In Slack, you only see information you are allowed to see in Learned. Asking a question through an @mention in a channel? Keep in mind that everyone in that channel can read the answer.
