Writing a self review as an employee
In this article we show you how to get started as an employee with reviews.
Where do you find your reviews?
All your reviews can be found via Reviews in the left menu bar, under the tab 'About you'. Here you will find all reports about you as an employee. You can filter by name, date and status.
What does the review process look like?
Your preparation for a review consists of the following steps. You prepare your self-review by filling in the review form and sharing your input. You will receive an invitation by email and tasks will appear in Learned. If the organisation works with 360° feedback, you also ask colleagues and possibly external parties for input. Your coach automatically fills in the questions intended for them. If 360° feedback is used, a task will appear to ask colleagues for input. If the review is digitally signed, you will find a signatures section at the bottom of the report.
Preparing your self-review
You receive a notification and a task appears on your home page. When you click on the task you enter the fill-in view of the review form. On the left side you will find a table of contents with all the questions you need to prepare. You can also see which questions you have not yet answered.
You can also have your review generated by AI. More information can be found in the article about generating concept reviews with AI.
There are different types of questions. For KPI questions, a question is generated per KPI with a predetermined rating scale. Fill in the score and substantiate where necessary. For skill questions, the behavioural examples matching your role and level are loaded. Behind each behavioural example the expected level is shown. For goal questions, existing goals are shown and you can create new goals. For open questions you answer the question in free text.
For text questions you can use AI text editing via the 'Assist me' button in the text field.
When you are done you can share your input via the final screen. You can also save as a draft at any time.
Asking colleagues for input
If the Admin has enabled 360° feedback, you ask at least one colleague for input via the search bar. You can also invite external parties; they can provide input without a Learned account. The requested colleagues can be found under the section 'Input from others'.
Discussing the report
The report contains both your own preparation and the input from coaches and peers. Go through the questions, substantiate where necessary and zoom in on notable points. You can edit answers directly from the report by hovering over the answer and clicking 'Edit'.
If 'Previous answers' has been activated by the Admin, you will also see your previous scores in the report as a comparison.
Summary and next steps
The summary and next steps can be found via the three dots in the top right of the report or at the bottom of the report. Notes are automatically saved as a draft and need to be published to be visible to others. Next steps can be assigned to yourself or to one of the guests.
If you have the AI Expert package, you can have the conversation recorded and summarised by AI. Via the 'Assist me' button in the summary you can regenerate the summary or create a custom prompt.
Creating insights from a review
You can select text in the report or summary, after which a button appears to create an insight. You can still adjust the text and title in the pop-up. The insight is linked to yourself by default and can later be found in Insights.
Signing the report
If the Admin has enabled digital signing, the guests sign the report first, after which the task becomes active for you as an employee. After signing, the review gets the status 'Signing' and the content can no longer be changed.
Viewing your average score
Depending on the settings, an average score is shown at the bottom of the report. Your coach's score is leading in this. Click on 'Scores per theme' to see how the average score is built up and to compare scores per theme with your coach or colleagues.
Finding your scores in your career plan
Your scores from reviews can also be found via Career → My plans. Click on your active role to view your performance score and the scores per skill or KPI.
